When we talk about whole foods–we hope that it is not confused with the high-end grocery store famous for its asparagus water, but rather whole ingredients that have not been processed or have been through very little processing. We love our ingredients and intend to keep them as close to their natural state as possible.
We are about ingredients fresh from the earth, farm to table.
This is similar to the “whole grain” trends that have sprouted (pun intended) in recent years. Luckily, the grains and seeds we know and use are whole–like amaranth and chia. We keep our ingredients whole because they retain more nutrients.
The more we process our food, the less nutritious it becomes.
More recently, whole foods and whole ingredients are commonly associated with the plant-based diet. A whole food plant based diet usually consists of fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes while minimizing the consumption of processed foods like refined sugar, bleached flour, even some meats and dairy. Whole foods should also not be confused with raw food, which refers to ingredients that have not undergone any type of cooking process. While we love our whole ingredients, we take care and interest in cooking and developing food and beverage products that are unlike any other.
For us at VIVOTRIBE, even the soil has an impact.
We believe that the quality of fresh, whole ingredients starts with healthy, organic soil and optimal farming conditions. So many farmers and growers are so in tune with this process that it is a complex science in itself.
